Porter is Back
Joey Porter built up a reputation as one of the hardest hitting defenders in the NFL during his years in Pittsburgh. He was traded to Miami in the 2007 and had a year that was uneventful, at best. Porter had one of the worst seasons of his career (statistically speaking) and his Dolphins finished at 1-15. Many critics said that Porter left whatever steam he had back in Pittsburgh with the Steelers. However, this year Joey Porter is showing his critics how wrong they were. He is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate and he is leading a Dolphin’s defense to possible playoff contention. The Dolphins are currently tied for AFC lead (as of today). Tomorrow they play the Patriots, a team that they managed to beat earlier in the season with their unusual wildcat offense. The Patriots looked like a pop warner team against the Dolphins; they were in complete disarray the entire game, scrambling to figure out what was happening. Joey Porter is a huge part of the Dolphin’s success this year; he has an NFL leading 13.5 sacks as well as several forced fumbles and one recovery. Porter seems to be enjoying himself a lot more this year. It’s good to see that football has finally returned to Miami, and to Joey Porter.
Still, I want the Pats to win tomorrow….
