James Bond Review

Published by bostonpride at 11:41 pm under Uncategorized, reviews, stuff Edit This

I saw Quantum of Solace this weekend, twice actually. I had very high expectations for this, because Casino Royale was my favorite Bond film. These new Bonds have a different feel than the old James Bond movies. There is less of a reliance on gadgets, and more use of physical force. In the old movies, if James Bond wanted to get from roof to roof he would shoot a grappling hook and slide across. In these new movies, Bond simply jumps across, no matter how far of a jump is required.

I did not like Quantum of Solace as much as I liked Casino Royale. I thought the movie moved far too quickly, and jumped around without much plot development. There was not much explanation of who was who; and what was the deal with Vesper’s boyfriend? Was he a bad spy? There was too much left unexplained. However, it was still an enjoyable shoot- em up movie, as Bond films always are. I look forward to the next one. At the end of the credits it said James Bond Will Return….I thought that was obvious, but at least we know there will be another. Hopefully the next one will be more developed. I think the studio rushed this one after the success of Casino Royale. I give it 2.5/4 stars

I think the Algerian (Vesper’s boyfriend) was a member of Quantum, like Greene. Vesper, like the Canadian agent in the last scene, was one of the Algerian’s assets.

I thought is was unnecessary to add that twist in the end, but I guess they had to give Bond *someone* to blame for Vesper’s death.

yeah I think you are right. Still, the addition of the Canadian spy seemed redundant and pointless. They could have taken out the entire scene and it would have been the same. thanks
